Kicked them out and would not wait on them, including me and the wife. And then, the cops were being called on the ones who were complaining about the way we were all being treated. It is a sad day, when a company, whose existence depends on the consumer totally for their survival, can get away with treating its customer base in this way. Verizon, I hope, will be much different. Besides, when they get a 'sales' presence here in the form of a permanent store and get their towers up and running in a couple of months, then their service will be superioror to AT&T.
You are correct. All of this will play a part in it, and Verizon is the better service for this area.
A lot of people HATE Verizon's customer service, but just always remember, the person on the other end of the phone is a PERSON and they can only do so much.
I've always had exceptional service, and at a period kept getting crappy blackberrys and Verizon had NO problem continually sending out a new/refurbished one until it was fixed. I've been a customer going on 8 years and would never switch away.

    Re: AT&T and Alltel Merger

Don't even think about switching UT because of the different technology of the networks you would lose the ability to look something up on the internet and be on a phone call at the same time, CDMA network doesn't allow you to do that, we couldn't do it on Alltel nor on Verizon. Don't worry about the hotspot feature Verison is touting that's in the iOS 4.3 Beta for iPhone that came out the other day, so when it goes live in March you will have that option in the softwarefor the iPhone on AT&T.
I've reserched this too, AT&T owns all towers as stated and the lease agreement was 3 years unless Verizon go the iphone then it dropped to 12 months. Thats why there having to build towers because next year they have to pull there equipment off those existing towers. all the bashing over their network is from people who live in the in the 10 largest cities in the states, oversea's people on AT&T have no complint about it, our media and internet let people bash them.
Anyone who is upset with store hours at the retail store call AT&T handle buisness over the phone or go to Tri cities, the worker in Norton are having to deal with people from Wise, ****enson, Lee, Russell and Scott counties. I agree there corp shold have expanded hrs maybe but biggest fault is to go buy an accesory you have to wait 2 hrs, I bought an Ipad as Christmas gift and had to wait over 2 hours, I explained I was paying with cash didn't need anything else, they explained first come first serve, they didn't have an "express rep" it took less than 10 min once I got a rep. I thanked her and asked for the manager informed the manager that they should have one of the trainees handling sales of this nature or accesories, but didnt jump anyone.
I have been in many stores that they announce their closing in 15 minutes to finish shopping to proceed to checkout and when you came in the store they were closing in 10 minutes, all they done was let you know that with the time it was taking to wait for a rep,you wouldn't be able to see anyone that day. This entitlement I hear people go on about because your in the store 30 minutes before the store closes and you want to do upgrades etc. that employees should have to stay longer to wait on everyone is BS, it is first come first serve, everyone in 5 counties knows it's a 2 hr wait to go in that store so plan accordingly.
I have nothing but good to say about AT&T, I don't work for them, but they bent over backwards to accomdate me and my girlfriends accounts. The gf BB speaker sounds like crap so after troubleshooting there sending her a new one and they credited her phone bill she just got of $207 back to zero so no bill and told her to go to a retail store and use that as an upgrade to a new one. As for me she bought me a Iphone in Oct for my birthday so I had them for 3 months and quit using my Alltel phone under contract. I was told when I tired to port my Alltel number over after we got our phones last month I can't, I called them did take about 2 hours but the cancelled out my 3 month contract tha had a TN phone number with no ETF fee, ported my Alltel number in agreement I done a 2 yr contract after Alltel said I would have to pay $200 with 34 days left on the contract to port the number.
Excellent service from a great company and I dont work for AT&T or have any relatives working there either, just my 2 cents from having to deal in customer service. People think there entitled to what they want right when they want it **** anyone else and they want it for nothing.

Everything overseas is much better on a cell phone. They all run on the same GSM network, even Verizon which is known as Vodafone and AT&T which is O2, I think.
If you have a world phone from verizon, it already has a Vodafone sim card.

    Re: AT&T and Alltel Merger

Oh I'm not switching Sat Morn QB I was just curious. I have been 100% satisfied with AT&T so far. I have had 0 complaints so far. I get 4-5 bars in Lee County, heck I got 2 bars in Appalachia, 3 bars in Dante, good service all through Wise County that I got before with Alltel. The only place I don't get it now is Clintwood which doesn't bother me that much, when I'm over there I am there for business and normally only there for an hour or so.

I got the 2GB data plan and so far have utilized 1% so I am going to downgrade to the 200MB plan and save $15 per month.

I also have no complaints with AT&T so far. The service has been great for me and the data speeds are much better than what they were with Alltel. I haven't had to go into the corporate store yet, and hopefully I never will, but everytime I've called customer service or chatted online with them I was connected within minutes and they were all very nice and helpful to what I needed. They are actually some of the nicest people I have dealt with in customer service. Also, AT&T has a very extensive FAN network that allows many companies and their employees discounts on their monthly service and phones. I receive an 18% discount through my work which is going to save me about 35 bucks per month. I would like to see them to put a tower down towards the western end of Lee County around Thomas Walker. I'm not totally sure if that will happen anytime soon though.

My AT&T service has been fine so far also, no issues with service or billing.

When I had Verizon for several years the customer service was good also - the price was just too high for me at the time.
    You'll shoot your eye out.

Does AT&T not have unlimited data plans?
I'm with Verizon, and have been unlimited for a few years on a smart phone.

No, AT&T customers that signed up after July 7th(ish) of last year cannot get unlimited data. They can get 200MB for $15 or 2GB for $25. If you go over the 2 GB it is $10 per GB. Alltel customers that chose to take the free phone and did not upgrade were allowed to stay with their unlimited data. Although if you have wifi at home and/or work 2 GB is more than enough for most people in a month. I am considering dropping the two smartphone lines on my plan down to the 2GB to save $5 per month on each of them.

There are also rumors that Verizon will discontinue unlimited data as well when the iPhone and 4G devices start coming out. I honestly don't see how they can still allow unlimited data when speeds get so fast that people are allowed to download movies, etc. on their phones. That will cost them a fortune, although it is a good selling point for some people.

Lucky for us... if that were ever the case, thank God it's in contract that's what they have to give us for the next 2 years.

    Re: AT&T and Alltel Merger

these folks working at the AT&T store are doing all they can. These people also have a life to get home to and people should be considerate of that fact. if they don't have a show of police security it would get out of hand in there in a hurry and someone would end up getting hurt or killed. I've heard that these folks are working without lunch breaks because business is so overwhelming. everyone knows it is a 2hr wait. I think they should stop anyone from coming in 2hrs before closing so everyone in the store gets waited on and if you are not there you don't. No one really thought about anyone getting killed in a Walmart on black Friday. Once that happened things changed in a hurry about how that day is handled.
